Go Green Tip of the Week
Submitted by: IWCC Go Green Team

Don't ask for ATM receipts.  If everyone in the United States refused their receipts, it would save a roll of paper more than two billion feet long, or enough to circle the equator fifteen times!  A tidbit brought to you by The Green Book.

Reiver News
Submitted by: Reiver   jtaylor@iwcc.edu

Volleyball - #2 (38-3)

The Iowa Western Volleyball Team completed a successful trip to Florida going 5-0 and winning the Miami Dade Tournament. The Reiver’s were impressive sweeping all five teams, going 15-0 in sets. All five teams were ranked or receiving votes in the NJCAA poll. Setter Madison Hardy and outside hitter Celeste Bonter were named to the All Tournament Team and libero Stephanie Figueroa was named the tournament MVP.

The Reiver’s ranked #2 in the country, return home to play Indian Hills at 7 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 15th at Kanesville Arena; this game will serve as the Region XI Championship Games with the awards ceremony immediately after the game. Also, please note to come early for special awards presentations before the game.

Reiver Hospitality Room during intermission sponsored by Blimpie on Broadway!

The Reiver Sapphires coached by Karen Watson will be making their debut Wednesday night during intermission!

Women’s Soccer - #9 (14-2-1)
Iowa Western Community College, knocked out of its No. 1 spot and down to No. 9, took out a bit of frustration on Iowa Central, winning the Region XI match 4-0 Wednesday on the Reiver’s campus. On Saturday the Reiver’s defeated Indian Hills 13-0. The Reiver’s under the direction of Head Coach Ammon Bennett, have now clinched their sixth straight conference title! The Reiver’s return home on Wednesday, Oct. 15th at 2 pm vs. Dakota County in their last home game of the season.

Men’s Soccer - (11-4)
The men defeated Iowa Central last Wednesday 1-0 in a big overtime victory and then with several players missing the game, the Reiver’s topped Indian Hills 3-1 on Saturday. The men are now in 2nd place in the conference race. The men also conclude their home season against Dakota County on Wednesday, Oct. 15th at 4 pm, come out and support the home team!

Men’s Cross Country
The Reiver's top runners took the weekend off from competition due to some nagging injuries. The Briar Cliff meet was a statistic decider for the men as they are looking for the 7th runner that will represent IWCC at the National Championships. The men will focus all their energy into training for the Region XI Championships in Iowa Falls on October 26th.

Women’s Cross Country
After a few weeks of running an incomplete team for one reason or another, the Reiver women competed this past weekend with a season of personal bests. The women were again led by Nicole Layson; from the first meet to the last meet of the regular season she has gradually improved her times, her time this weekend set a mile stone as she broke the 20 minute mark running a 19:55.9. Up next are the Region XI Championships in Iowa Falls on October 26th.

Men’s Golf
After three successful tournaments, the men's golf team will head to Huntsville, Alabama for the NJCAA D1 Fall Championship Preview. The tournament held on Monday and Tuesday, will be contested at Hampton Cove GC, where the National Tournament will be held next May. It will be a great gauge to see where the team stands nationally, before they head into the long break before the spring season.
